A Revolutionary Design – The LG KF600

The LG KF600 is a revolutionary phone. LG Cell Phones have tried something new with this model. They have replaced the navigation keys with a second touch screen display, known as the interact pad. The interact pad, when active really improves the beauty of the phone. The beauty of the phone is in the dual displays. However the dual display may be a problem for some people as it may take some getting used to. So before you buy the phone make sure that you would be able to adapt to the new user interface.

Design:

The dimensions of the phone are 101.2 x 50.7 x 14.1 mm and weigh around 107 grams. It has 2 displays. The main display is an impressive 2 inch touch screen which has a maximum resolution of 320 x 240 (QVGA). The lower display, also know as the interact pad is of 1.49 inches. As I mentioned above, the uniqueness of the phone is in it’s interact pad as the interact pad has replaced all the navigation keys of the phone. As there are no buttons or navigation keys on the phone, the front of the phone gives a very nice and glassy look.

Both the displays have a bad habit of fading in the sun and it becomes almost impossible to read anything on the screens in direct sunlight. Also due to the glossy look of the phone, it becomes a magnet for smudges and fingerprints. The interact pad, along with being a replacement for navigation keys also has the option of hand writing recognition.

On the left side of the phone we have the volume rocker keys along with a dedicated music key, while on the right side of the phone we have the dedicated camera key along with the USB port which is used to connect the charger, data cable or headset. The back of the phone hold the 3 mega pixel camera along with an LED flash.

The only downside to the phone is the lack of hot swapping the memory. The phone will have to be turned off to change or remove the memory card.

Camera:

LG Cell Phones have added a 3 mega pixel camera to the KF600. The camera has advanced features such as auto focus and LED flash. The results of the camera are very good and are worth viewing. It takes great pictures with sharp and precise colors. However the speed of the camera is a huge disappointment as it takes forever (4 to 5 seconds) to save an image, and at times when speed is required the slow speed of the camera can really be annoying. In terms of video recording the KF600 is capable or recording at a maximum of QVGA resolution. The results of the video are also very impressive.
