Florida Reports Over 16,000 New COVID-19 Cases Within 48-Hour Period—State Now Has Highest Numbers Since January

Roommates, Florida is currently at the center of very alarming COVID-19 numbers, the state currently leads the nation with over 16,000 new cases reported within the last 48 hours. Additionally, on July 27th, Florida reported over 12,000 new COVID-19 cases for seven consecutive days in a row.

These latest cases now brings Florida’s seven-day average of new cases to a total of 13,502. The state has also reported 92 deaths on Tuesday and a weekly average of 57 deaths, according to new data from the CDC.

To put Florida’s COVID-19 cases into numerical perspective, across the nation an estimated 80,701 new cases were reported Tuesday—meaning that the state of Florida accounted for around 20% of the newly reported cases. Additionally, the 92 reported deaths in the state represented around were about 22% of the COVID-19 deaths throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Florida’s Broward County School System recently announced that all students will be required to wear masks at the start of the new school year and Miami-Dade Public Schools will require masks on buses, as they make a formal decision on mask requirements on school campus.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been in the middle of intense criticism for his anti-mask stance and his refusal to reinstate wearing masks in public places and making it mandatory for all schools.

“We in Florida, to this point, our school districts have proposed mask-optional (policies.) But I think our fear is that, seeing some of those rumblings, that there’d be an attempt from the federal level or even some of these organizations to try to push for mandatory masking of school children,” he said during a recent press conference.

Alexa, play ‘Forever’ by Lil Mo! Today has been such an eventful day for Supa Cent and her man Rayzor! As the couple celebrated their one-year anniversary, Ray planned out a day full of surprises before popping the big question in such a beautiful way.

Supa gave her supporters a look at the all-white outfit Ray picked out for her, and although it was bomb, she couldn’t fit it. However, she didn’t let that rain on her parade. The entrepreneur and social media star looked terrific in her Fendi outfit while enjoying a ride on a New Orleans streetcar filled with pictures of the couple hanging from the ceiling. Though she was surprised and pleased with Ray’s gesture, her best friend, Bee Marie, captured the biggest moment, the proposal.

While at another venue, Supa opened a door and tearfully dropped to her knees as she saw Ray standing in front of big white letters that read, “Marry me.” The Crayon Case’s CEO was so overwhelmed with emotion before finally saying yes! They always spoil each other with lavish gifts, so it’s no surprise that Ray iced Supa out with a stunning eleven-carat diamond engagement ring!

Thousands of Roommates showered the couple with well wishes, which was quite a different tune from earlier today. As we previously reported, Supa surprised Ray with land as an anniversary gift. She captioned the post, “I can’t express how thankful I am for that. When you bought that house six months ago and added me to the title. I knew you wanted longevity and happiness with me. Here’s a gift that keeps on giving! This land is for YOU! I got you more floor plans as well.’”

We’re wishing Supa Cent & Rayzor lots of love and happiness and can’t wait to see them tie the knot! Congratulations!

Caitlin Jenner Calls Out Whoopi Goldberg For Defending Joe Biden

Whew! Looks like Whoopi Goldberg is on Caitlin Jenner’s bad side following comments she made on ‘The View’ Joe Biden’s defense amid rising gas prices and the baby formula shortage. Whoopi said, “Gas prices aren’t bad because of anything President Biden did. It’s just what he’s gonna absorb.” During the discussion, Sunny Hostin chimed in, mentioning the ongoing war in Ukraine, and Whoopi brought up the formula shortage.

“People want baby food, baby formula, that’s also is not on him. That’s on Abbott [Nutrition.] I notice when people talk about these things, nobody ever says, you know, ‘Here’s the cause of this, and here’s how we have to fight this,’” she said.

Caitlin wasn’t feeling Whoopi’s comments and tweeted,

“Come on, @WhoopiGoldberg … I’ve known you for years and think you are such a good soul. But this is crossing the line.” She added, “Biden is the most ineffective leader, as are many of his appointees, and this admin is wildly responsible for this and has not provided effective solutions.”

Despite the public criticism he’s been receiving, President Biden is taking steps to address the shortage. According to CNBC, he invoked the Defense Production Act on Wednesday, which will increase baby formula manufacturing and ease the nationwide shortage caused by the closure of a key plant in Michigan.

The Act gives the nation’s leader broad authority to require companies to prioritize the manufacture and allocation of goods in response to a crisis. The law was passed in 1950 during the Korean War. In addition, President Biden requires suppliers to direct ingredients to baby formula manufacturers before any other companies who may have placed orders for those same goods. To ensure the Act is run correctly, President Biden also directed the Health and Human Services Department and Department of Agriculture to use aircraft from the Defense Department to pick up infant formula from overseas that meets U.S. health and safety standards.
