Here Are The Games Hitting This Week

With players still flocking to Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone, turning heads in the battle royale genre will be challenging, but Ubisoft believes it has just the game to do that in Hyper Scape. Wet another free-to-play title, Hyper Scape embraces verticality and high-tech gadgets to give it a much different flavor than the games of note.

If you don’t jump into Hyper Scape or are looking for something a little different, you can always transform yourself into a tiny bug in Metamorphosis, or slice up demons of hell in Dying Light: Hellraid. Additionally, Double Kick Heroes on Switch looks like something fun and different with its music/action focus.

This is a good week to catch up on your backlog of games. No title truly has a spotlight on it, but we have had a blast playing Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, and we can’t wait to see how the Vin Diesel-led Fast & Furious Crossroads turns out.

Electronic Arts’ recent Skate announcement and Activision’s forthcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remaster have people hungry for halfpipes again. You don’t have to wait for either of those games to release to get your fix. Easy Day Studios’ Skater XL hits this Tuesday. Game Informer won’t have a review ready, but we will bring you early impressions to let you know if it’s worth your time.

The week ahead also sees the releases of Destroy All Humans, Grounded, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Hellpoint. Destroy All Humans is the classic revival of a PlayStation 2 game that lets you terrorize humanity as a space-faring alien. Grounded is the next game from Obsidian Entertainment that sees you exploring a backyard as a microscopic human. Yakuza needs no real introduction. Hellpoint is a promising souls-like adventure with a science-fiction flavor.

Previous Week: July 19-25

Many of you are likely playing Ghost of Tsushima right now and don’t want to think about adding another game to your queue, but there are a number of intriguing titles hitting this week. The one that catches my eye the most is Carrion, a side-scrolling adventure that puts you in control of an amorphous blob that is trying to escape a human-run facility.

Another title that stands out is Crysis Remastered on Switch. This is a game that once required a high-end PC to play, and now we will be able to experience it on a handheld. Rock of Ages III: Make & Break is also on the way this week, as is Dying Light: Hellraid, yet another expansion to the first-person zombie game that launched in 2015.
