Back in March Bad Ash was cast as the love interest in the clip for ‘This That’, from New Jersey rapper, Jameel Mason. The eye-catching Bad Ash returns, this time as the rap equal for Jameel, in their single, ‘Klaws’.
Jameel takes the second verse, while Bad Ash handles the first verse, as well as a chorus which serves as a foregrounding to the commitment she shows to her own self-expression and style. Bad Ash fills the room with her attitude, as well as her charisma, which is effortless.
Jameel Mason has established himself as one of the smartest and most skilled rappers in the New Jersey hip-hop scene, and he bigs up both this and his home state in his verses. Just like his single, ‘Black Queens’, a tribute to African American women, Jameel shows he can be thoughtful; but watch out when he’s in party mood!
The video for ‘Klaws’ serves as a showcase for both Jameel and Bad Ash, but clearly this song is about Bad Ash’s personality, Cozy Creatives, who directed the clip, make sure to keep the camera’s focus on her. Although she’s a relative newcomer to hip-hop, Bad Ash knows exactly how to face the camera, and in so doing, hold the viewer’s attention. Dressed in a sheer bodysuit which appears to have been made of gemstones and pearls, as well as flame-shaped sunglasses, and gold accents on her high-heeled sandals, Bad Ash is clearly out to keep everyone’s gaze on her. Jameel Mason also keeps it stylish, rocking his New Jersey Devils cap, along with his own “Jersday” athleticwear.
