Maverick’s Greg Thompson Joins Big Loud Management as President/Partner: Exclusive

Greg Thompson, president of Maverick Management/Live Nation, shifts to president and partner at Nashville-based Big Loud Management, effective immediately.

Big Loud’s management roster includes Morgan Wallen, Chris Lane, HARDY, Dallas Smith and Sean Stemaly. Thompson, who will remain Los Angeles-based, continues managing new artists Philmon Lee and Ananya Birla.

Maverick parent Live Nation acquired Big Loud in 2017 and Thompson, who was named president of Maverick in 2016, has collaborated with the Big Loud team for the last several years, as well as with such artists as Maverick clients U2 and Madonna.

“It’s hard to imagine how things could get better at Big Loud right now, but adding Greg to our company is exactly that. He is a leader, mentor, and first-class executives,” said Big Loud partners Seth England, Joey Moi and Craig Wiseman in a statement. “We are very thankful to him for coming on board when he could have chosen just about anywhere. He will be key in overseeing all of our managers and assisting with each of their respective artists, not to mention being a key resource for us partners as well.”

Thompson joins Big Loud as the management company is flying high on Wallen’s success: his new release, Dangerous: The Double Album, is on pace to move more than 220,000 album equivalent units in its first week, according to Big Loud Records and Republic Records, who are partners on the project. Singer/songwriter HARDY also scored his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Airplay chart as an artist in recent weeks, while Lane took his second consecutive single to No. 1 with “Big, Big Plans.”

Thompson, who held high level positions at Capitol Music Group and Elektra Records, among the labels, before joining Maverick, said, “I’ve worked closely with Big Loud in the past, and have been able to see what an incredible organization they have built. I want to thank Seth, Joey and Craig for this amazing opportunity to join the family. I’m thrilled to lead a group of world-class managers and have the privilege to be on the same team as some of the greatest artists in the world.”

In addition to the management and record company, Big Loud also operates a publishing division. There is no word if Thompson’s role at Maverick will be filled.
