Sophia Di Martino’s Loki Costume Was Designed For Breastfeeding

Her super villain costume is already pretty iconic, especially the crown with the broken horn.

I mean, this look is definitely going to be my Halloween costume this year.

However, Sylvie’s costume has an even more important feature, which costume designer Christine Wada included to accommodate’s Sophia’s need to breastfeed during filming.

“[She] had the genius idea of adding concealed zippers for easy access so that I could use my [Elvie] pumps easily and nurse my baby between takes,” Sophia wrote on Instagram.

Sophia gave birth to her first child in 2019 then began filming in 2020, so the alteration was incredibly beneficial.

“It’s little (big) things like this that made it possible for me to do my job AND be a parent,” she wrote. “I’m forever grateful.”

Sophia was pregnant and unable to travel when she auditioned for Loki, so she sent in a self-tape instead of doing an in-person audition.

Fans have been applauding the powerful team of women behind Loki, such as Christine Wada and director Kate Herron, and calling for the inclusion of more women in key behind-the-scenes roles.

@sophiadimartino This is exactly why we need more women in decision making position 👏👏👏

Lamar Odom Ordered To Pay His Ex Liza Morales Nearly $400K Child Support Payments (Update)

TSR Updatez: A judge just handed Lamar Odom a large financial blow after ordering the former NBA star to pay his ex nearly $400,000 as he hasn’t paid a cent of child support in more than a year.

In court docs that were obtained by TMZ, a New York Judge ruled Lam Lam stopped making payments to his ex, Liza Morales, in June of last year even though a 2015 settlement agreement required him to pay thousands of dollars per month to her to help out with their two kids.

The court ordered Lamar to pay Morales a total of $380,549, which included $91,220 in outstanding child support, $88,117 in missed rent, $161,305 for their children’s college funds and expenses, and nearly $40,000 for her legal fees and expenses.

It looked like things were headed this way for Lamar after the judge in his case last month slammed him for his current publicity stunts.

The judge seemed to be upset that Lamar had time to entertain celebrity boxing matches–in reference to his recent fight with former pop star Aaron Carter–but still hadn’t paid his child support.

During the virtual hearing, Judge Cooper firmly stated, “If Mr. Odom is in good enough shape to participate in a boxing match, he’s certainly in good enough shape to abide by his obligations to support his children as set forth in the settlement agreement. I was disappointed that payments ceased.” When asked by the judge regarding Lamar Odom’s current financial stability, Liza Morales said he definitely is not hurting for money. “He is definitely making income. He just got a check for that boxing match. He is doing a lot of things regarding his brand. He has a CBD company that he works with,” she said.

Morales had sued Lamar back in May, claiming he missed all the payments he agreed to make since June 2020.

In the court’s ruling, the judge also noted Lamar did not show up for a key hearing in the case in June “despite due notice.”

We’ll keep you posted on any updates.

Oakland Father Supported 7-Year-Old Illustrator Son’s Dreams By Helping Publish His First Children’s Book

TSR Black Excellence: I love the Black Boy Joy coming out of Oakland, California, thanks to a father and his illustrator son trying to change the narrative about young Black boys and reading.

Their initiative to get boys interested in books started when Omar Bala noticed his son Khalil was drawn to creating cartoon characters as early as 4 years old, Black Enterprise reports.

Omar, being supportive of his young son, ultimately assisted his baby boy to publish his illustrated work in two books–”Why Dogs Chase Cats” and “The Lost Baby Spinosaurus,” according to BlackNews.com.

“I tell Khalil all the time, you’re an artist. Whatever you do and whatever people may say, don’t ever stop drawing,” Omar told BlackNews.com. “I know if he sees his work in a book, that will drive his pursuit to chase his dream in the art industry.”

The illustrations for the team’s first books were completed when Khalil was only 7 years old, according to their official book website.

Their passion to get Black boys reading is crucial in light of reports that Black boys in some states are underperforming in reading and writing.

In their home state of California, three out of four Black male students could not pass standardized tests in those subject areas, “according to data obtained from the state Department of Education,” per an older report issued by the nonprofit, CalMatters.

It’s also noteworthy that Omar and Khalil are creating space in an industry where Black children’s book illustrators are underrepresented.

Omar did what had to be done to empower his son at a young age.

“Whatever you want to be or do, you don’t have to wait, you can do it now,” Omar told BlackNews.com.

Their brand, Books By Balas, features books that combine African-American folklore and imagination. You can click here to learn more about their books and journey.

We applaud Omar for supporting his son in his greatness!
