Tattoo Artist Is Suing Tekashi 6ix9ine For Allegedly Stealing His Name

Oop! Roommates, a Brooklyn tattoo artist has filed a lawsuit against Tekashi 6ix9ine for allegedly stealing his name and putting a distasteful twist on the reasoning behind the name. According to Daily Mail, the artist, Takashi Matsuba, filed the suit yesterday in the Manhattan Supreme Court over statements 6ix9ine made in two separate documentaries which aired on Hulu and Showtime.

The Hulu documentary, which aired in March, 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, broke down how he chose his stage name. He explained, “There was this tattoo artist named Takashi from our neighborhood. And he was this heroin addict. He did heroin to create. He did it to get himself in his little world.”

The ‘ZaZa’ rapper continued saying, “He did it to be himself. And that’s where I got the name Tekashi from. And that’s who I am. I’m Tekashi 6ix9ine, and I built my whole fu***ng world.” Takashi has denied all claims that 6ix9ine has made against him in the lawsuit. Especially him being addicted to heroin. In fact, he claims that he never talked to 6ix9ine at all. In the Hulu documentary, the narrator mentions that Takashi’s former roommate helped to influence 6ix9ine’s newfound persona at the time. The narrator says, “Peter’s roommate, a Japanese tattoo artist named Takashi, would inspire Danny’s new persona, Tekashi 6ix9ine.”

In the lawsuit, Takashi does confirm that Peter was his former roommate at one point but is standing ten toes down that he was not familiar with 6ix9ine. Additionally, Takashi says that 6ix9ine’s statements regarding him were defamatory and jeopardized his business for several reasons. With accusations of him using heroin, he feels that it can cause people to look at him negatively. Not to mention “tattooing requires the use of needles, and heroin is connected in the public’s mind with hypodermic needles,” the suit states.

6ix9ine hasn’t commented on the lawsuit, but we’ll keep y’all updated if he does!

iCarly Reboot Was Pitched As A Kids’ Show

A Seattle-based “Hype House” of sorts…the HORROR!

Readers, let’s take this time to thank the heavens and whatever powers that be that allowed the new iCarly to be geared toward the adult viewers of the original.

Paramount+ / Franchesca Ramsey

Yup, that’s right. The original pitch for the reboot was another kids’ show.

The original idea was that Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) and Spencer (Jerry Trainor) were running a Hype House in their Seattle apartment and mentoring a new generation of influencers inspired by Carly’s web show.

“I don’t think that any of us would have been up for that [idea],” Miranda told Bustle in a recent interview. “What excited me about doing iCarly again was getting to put the characters in situations that we couldn’t show before.”

Lisa Rose / Paramount+ / Nickelodeon

The actor revealed that the cast was hesitant to the idea of a reboot at first: “The first thing I did was call Jennette [McCurdy], Jerry [Trainor], and Nathan [Kress],” she shared. “Many people don’t like the idea of revivals, so we were all scared. We didn’t want to ruin anyone’s childhood memories.”

Lisa Rose / Nickelodeon / Courtesy: Everett Collection

While Jerry and Nathan were quick to reprise their roles as Spencer and Freddie, respectively, Jennette has since quit acting.

After around “50,000” hours of phone calls with the cast, Miranda asked the show’s production company, Awesomeness TV, and ViacomCBS for the change. Surprisingly, they “almost immediately” agreed.

Lisa Rose / Paramount+ / Nickelodeon

Miranda mentioned her disappointment when the Lizzie McGuire reboot was dropped, following creative disagreements. “Hopefully [iCarly] will do well, and maybe they’ll let Lizzie McGuire be what it was supposed to be because I would love to see that,” she said.

Miranda also serves as an executive producer on the show, who is ensuring the new iCarly is both nostalgic and progressive. “On the old iCarly, I just did whatever anybody said, because I was 13 and just wanted to do a good job,” she recalled. “It’s nice to be able to voice your opinion and really be heard.”

Lisa Rose / Paramount+ / Nickelodeon

Former characters, like Nevel (Reed Alexander) and Freddie’s mom (Mary Scheer), have already appeared in the series. And the storylines for the show have touched on topics such as sex work, sexuality, cancel culture, and more. The additions of new characters like Carly’s roommate Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett) have also increased representation on the once all-white show.

What’s even more heartwarming is that Miranda says she feels protective of Jaidyn since she’s now the only child actor on set.

Lisa Rose / Paramount+ / Nickelodeon

“Anytime she’s really trying to get her lines down, or they’re giving her a new line out of nowhere, it immediately takes me back to being little,” she shared. “It can be a lot of pressure being on a TV show, even for an adult.”

And it looks like this approach to iCarly has been a success, since the show has been renewed for a second season.

Paramount+ / Franchesca Ramsey

Queens of manifesting, I think.

And to think we could have potentially missed out on gems like this one:

Federal Prosecutors Allege R. Kelly Had Sexual Relationships With Two Teenage Boys

R. Kelly is already facing 22 charges of sexual abuse against young girls and women, and it looks like federal prosecutors are attempting to get some more charges filed him! According to NPR, prosecutors allege R. Kelly initiated sexual relationships with two teenage boys in the early 2000’s, and are reportedly seeking to have evidence of these alleged crimes used in his upcoming trial.

Prosecutors allege R. Kelly initiated a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy who he met at a Chicago McDonald’s. That boy allegedly introduced Kelly to another young man, age 16 at the time, and he allegedly forced both boys to have sex with several of his girlfriends. Prosecutors say many of the alleged incidents were filmed.

After the release of ‘Surviving R. Kelly’, the world learned about various alleged incidents in which women were sexually abused under his care. There were also many details revealed regarding Kelly’s relationship with the late singer Aaliyah, and prosecutors are seeking to present more evidence in that case as well. NPR reports that prosecutors allege R. Kelly had one of his associated day an Illinois state employee $500 to create a fake ID for Aaliyah.

This incident reportedly happened back in 1994 when Aaliyah was 15, and R. Kelly’s goal was to marry the young singer because he believed she was pregnant. Kelly was also indicted on 21 counts of child pornography and if he and Aaliyah were married, she couldn’t testify against him in court.

As we previously reported, R. Kelly is currently being held in Brooklyn awaiting trial. He faces 22 federal criminal charges that involve allegedly abusing girls and women for more than two decades. His trial is set to begin on August 9th.

27 Iconic Songs That Their Singers Low-Key Hate

I find it hard to believe anyone could hate “Telephone,” but apparently Lady Gaga does.

Billy Joel, “We Didn’t Start the Fire”

Paul Bruinooge/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images, SME (on behalf of Columbia/Legacy)

After messing up on the lyrics during a show, Joel called it “One of the worst melodies I ever wrote.” He’s also called it “not much of a song” and “terrible.”

Pink, “Don’t Let Me Get Me”

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images for dcp, SME (on behalf of LaFace Records)

“I wish I could burn that song and never sing it again,” Pink told the LA Times, calling it the song she hates performing the most.

Camila Cabello, “OMG”

Mike Marsland / WireImage via Getty Images, SME (on behalf of Syco Music/Epic)

Camila once tweeted “I’m throwing up” when a fan quoted/mentioned the song to her. It was actually supposed to be released as a single instead of “Havana,” though Camila convinced the label to let her release both and see which fared better — “Havana” obviously won.

Ariana Grande, “Put Your Hearts Up”…

Grande told Rolling Stone that the song felt “inauthentic and fake,” saying it was geared toward kids and that she hated the music video. “I still have nightmares about it, and I made them hide it on my Vevo page,” she said.

…and “Touch It”

Republic Records

After a fan said Ari thought “Touch It” was boring, Ariana replied on Twitter saying “im correct.”

Elton John, “Crocodile Rock”

John told ABC, “There are certain songs that you think, “Ugh, I gotta f***in’ sing that one again!” and when pressed, admitted “Crocodile Rock” was one of them. “But the audience love it, and y’know, it’s a guilty pleasure, as they say,” he conceded.

Bruno Mars, “The Lazy Song”

Ethan Miller / Getty Images, WMG / Atlantic Records

Mars tweeted, “When someone tells me they actually like ‘The Lazy Song,'” then added a video where he shook his head and stared deadpan at the camera.

The Jonas Brothers, “Pizza Girl”

Rich Fury / Getty Images for dcp, Disney Channel

The JoBros told Khalid that the one song they regretted in their discography was “Pizza Girl,” a track that was part of their Jonas Disney Channel show. The brothers, and in particular Nick, also revealed they didn’t love being on the show, especially in the second season.

Lady Gaga, “Telephone”…

Speaking to PopJustice, Gaga said, “I hate ‘Telephone.’ Is that terrible to say? It’s the song I have the most difficult time listening to.” However, she said this had less to do with the song itself, but more with “the mix and the process of getting the production finished,” which she called “stressful.” She also said she hated the music video and that it tried to cram too many ideas in.

…and “Money Honey”

Universal Music Group

After speaking about “Telephone,” Gaga was asked what song she actually does dislike/would skip. She answered “Money Honey” from The Fame.

Miley Cyrus, “Party in the USA”

Raymond Hall/GC Images via Getty Images, UMG (on behalf of Hollywood Records)

In a video of ex-husband Liam Hemsworth singing “Party in the USA,” Miley says she hates the song, even though, “for some reason, the people love it.”

Willow Smith, “Whip My Hair”

Smith struggled with her mental health after the runaway success of her hit “Whip My Hair,” and said it even took her a few years to forgive her parents and regain trust after she felt her father was too harsh at times and she didn’t feel listened to.

Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, “The One”

Scott Dudelson / Getty Images for ABA, LatinAutor – UMPG

The Foo Fighters drummer said he’s always hated the song, which was recorded for the film Orange County: “I hate the way it sounds, the production of it; it was a total cop-out.” He also called it “straight-up pop” at a time when they were “trying to figure out how to be the Foo Fighters.”

Halsey, “New Americana”

Rodin Eckenroth / FilmMagic via Getty Images, UMG (on behalf of Astralwerks (ASW))

When a fan tweeted Halsey asking what her least favorite song of hers is, Halsey answered “New Americana.” However, after fans shared their love for the song, Halsey admitted that their feelings may be because it was their first single and they got “burnt out on it.”

Justin Bieber, “Beauty and a Beat”

Emma McIntyre / Getty Images, UMG (on behalf of RBMG/Def Jam)

Bieber admitted that he “never really liked” the song, even at the time of recording it, but that he understood what it was and it was successful.

Ed Sheeran, “Shape of You”

Keith Mayhew/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images, WMG (on behalf of East West Records UK Ltd)

Sheeran felt like the song wasn’t him, and said it took a month or two for the other writers on the song to convince him to put it on the album Divide, and another month before they persuaded him to make it a single.

Madonna, “Like a Virgin”

Jeff Vespa / WireImage via Getty Images, WMG (on behalf of Warner Records Label)

Madonna is apparently “sick” of her old songs, especially “Like a Virgin,” saying it’s always playing in stores she’s in or that fans will sing it to her when it’s actually the one she wishes she didn’t have to hear. She also said she’s not sure she could ever perform “Like a Virgin” or “Holiday” anymore, unless she was paid $30 million.

Charli XCX, “Break the Rules”

Rich Fury / Getty Images for LA Pride, WMG (on behalf of East West Records UK Ltd)

Charli called the song “so bad,” saying she hates it and that she wrote it at a writing camp for other artists. ‘I was like, ‘Whoever sings this song is an idiot,'” she said, adding that she “fucked herself” by making it the second single for her album Sucker.

Lorde, “Royals”

Steve Granitz / Getty Images, Universal Music NZ Ltd.

Lorde said she understood why it was a hit, but groaned when talking about it, calling the melody “just not as good as something I could have written now” and the song “a bit of a relic.” She also called herself “naive” when she wrote it, especially due to criticisms of racism in the song.

Kelly Clarkson, “Breakaway”…

Weiss Eubanks / NBCUniversal / NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images, SME

In a BuzzFeed video where Kelly ranked her songs, she called “Breakaway” one of her two least favorite songs. She’s also said it wasn’t challenging or exciting as a vocalist to sing.

…and “A Moment Like This”

SME (on behalf of 19 Recordings)

“A Moment Like This” was the other song Clarkson called her “least favorite.” In another interview with BuzzFeed, Kelly said she’s not “against the song, but it’s not really [her] vibe,” as the song was technically written for the winner of American Idol and not her specifically.

Avril Lavigne, “Complicated”

Lester Cohen / Getty Images for The Recording Academy, SME (on behalf of Arista)

Lavigne said she sometimes hates playing “Complicated,” but that she does it for the fans, and doesn’t understand when other artists refuse to perform old hits that they no longer enjoy.

Nicki Minaj, “Starships”…

Gilbert Carrasquillo / GC Images via Getty Images, UMG (on behalf of Nicki Minaj/Cash Money)

“I hate ‘Starships,’” Minaj said. “I mean ew, ‘Starships?’ I’m like, ‘Why did I do that?’ I really think that every time I hear it.”

…and “Your Love”…

UMG (on behalf of Nicki Minaj/Cash Money)

Minaj apparently always hated the song, though she likes the video. She’s said she wasn’t planning on releasing it at all, but then the song leaked online, and the radio started playing it.

…and “Anaconda”

UMG (on behalf of Nicki Minaj/Cash Money)

Minaj revealed she wishes she’d never recorded “Anaconda,” though again, she likes the video.

Selena Gomez, “Come and Get It”

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images for Global Citizen VAX LIVE, LatinAutorPerf

Gomez has said that the song sounds like “a Rihanna reject” and that it’s “very difficult for [her] to perform live.” She also said she released it when she was young and wanted a hit, but she’s grateful for what its done for her.

And finally, Zayn…and basically all of his “One Direction” songs

Desiree Navarro / WireImage via Getty Images, Steve Granitz / WireImage via Getty Images

Zayn has called the group’s music “generic” and not his style, saying they recorded what they were told would sell. He later said of their music, “That’s not music I would listen to. Would you listen to One Direction at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t.”
