Hey, guys! So, Foxtel has finally announced that Season 8 of Wentworth will be released in June of 2020 in Australia. For the show’s fans outside of Australia, this means that they will be able to enjoy Season 8 on Netflix approximately at the end of August. Meanwhile, the cast of Wentworth has recently picked up the 2019 Logie Award in the category Most Outstanding Drama Series, for second year in a row. This brings the award-winning total for Wentworth to 17, with 56 nominations. Now, as far as cast changes, Season 8 is going to be pretty “freaky”: the recently revealed official cast photo confirmed that Joan ‘The Freak’ Ferguson, who’d been believed to be buried alive, is very much … not dead. Everything is hunky-dory until The Freak comes back. We are also curious to see how things will change for acting governor Will Jackson, since the prison siege was organized by his romantic interest, Marie Winter. “I think things in the broader picture of Wentworth Prison will change,” said Robbie Magasiva about Season 8. After the siege, it is natural to expect new blood in Wentworth, and three new cast members have already been confirmed: Kate Box, Jane Hall and Zoe Terakes. There is also an additional new cast member, Vivienne Awosoga, who will play what is accurately called “a heritage character” – inmate Judy Bryant – who appeared in the original 1980s series Prisoner, and was played by Betty Bobbitt.
